My parents live in Cameroon, and when I need to send money, Western Union is usually my go-to. So I was excited to find out that I could head to Dollar General and do some shopping, as well as send money to my parents.

Dollar General has some of our family’s favorite household supplies and snacks to shop for, so we love heading there. We usually plan our trips to Dollar General around when we need to use Western Union so that we can do both at the same time.

Before you head to Dollar General,make sure to download the Western Union app first. After you download the app, you’ll find that it is very user friendly. All you have to do is select the country you’ll be sending money to and choose how much you want to send.

Simply select “pay in-store” for your payment option and head to your local Dollar General. Once you are there, head straight to the register and provide your phone number, ID and payment to finish your money transfer.

When you send money, the person receiving the money has plenty of options as to where they can pick up the money. Western Union has over 500,000 locations in over 200 countries and territories. Money can be picked up by mobile wallet, cash and direct deposit.

Our family loves using Western Union due to the ease of use and reliability while sending money. Not forgetting that my parents can pick up cash in minutes too, especially when there’s an emergency and they need the money right away.
