Hong Kong is one of the most incredible cities to visit with kids especially because it is considered as a gateway to Asia. There is so much to see and so much to do in Hong Kong that you’ll need to stay more than just a few days to really enjoy it. The key to having a great time in Hong Kong is finding the right accommodation. Many Hongkongers can speak English therefore, traveling to Hong Kong and communicating with the locals, as well as finding your way around is not a hard task. However, finding the best place to stay in Hong Kong will make your trip a lot easier and smoother.

Aiden and I spent a week in Hong Kong, and picking the best place to stay in Hong Kong made it easy for us to get around using the MTR (train/subway) and the bus as well without worrying about how late at night it was. Finding a safe area to stay makes a whole lot of a difference when on vacation with kids, and especially being the solo parent.

The Best Place to Stay in Hong Kong

Tsim Sha Tsui

This place is a popular place for tourists to stay in Hong Kong. There are plenty of tourists attractions around Tsim Sha Tsui, especiallly within walking distance meaning you may not even need to take the bus or MTR on some days if you want to explore attractions in this neighborhood. This makes exploring so much easier and gives you some insight about the people who live there. Tsim Sha Tsui is close to the popular and well known Nathan road which is famous because of the amazing neon signs, shopping areas, and restaurants.

Central

This is one of the best places to stay in Hong Kong if you want to stay in the center of the entire action of Hong Kong. This is the best part of the active business district of Hong Kong and also a heart of amazing nightlife. For tourists, it can be the best place to stay in Hong Kong because the famous Vicoria Peak and Central Pare just a few minutes away.

Mong Kok

Mong Kok is one of the best places stay in Hong Kong. It is highly recommended for people who want to rent a vacation rental. Langham Place and Temple Street Night Market are at walking distance from Mong Kok MTR station. Ladies’ Market is also very popular with tourists who love bargain shopping, as well as Fa Yuen Street which is filled with sports and sneaker stores. There are so many food stalls around here as well, making it a foodie’s heaven.

Wan Chai

Wan Chai is the very first place that was inhabited by the British. It is filled with rich culture and history. You’ll be able to visit market places, and amazing nightlife spots to visit with ease. Hong Kong convention and exhibition center are one of the most notable attractions in Wan Chai. The Tai Tuen Street is very popular for families with kids due to all the toy stores. There is a flag-raising ceremony that happens daily in Golden Buahinia Square so don’t miss it.

Causeway Bay

A while back, Causeay Bay was a real bay with amazing water but land reclamation filled the bay with soil, now it is one of the best places to stay in Hong Kong for shoppers because the best luxury malls, boutique and department stores can be found here. There are also places to bargain shop such as Jardine’s Crescent street market. If your main goal in Hong Kong is to shop, then this is the perfect play for your to stay. Other great places to explore around Causeway Bay are Food Street, Tin Hau Temple, Victoria Park, Ding Dong Tram Ride, and Hong Kong Central Library.

Sheung Wan

Hong Kong can be overwhelming sometimes and in such a situation, Sheung Wan can be a the best place to stay in Hong Kong. Sheung Wan is situated just next to the west side of the main business district of the city. The winding streets of this calm neighborhood have a lot of things to keep any one busy, including some shopping and plenty of eateries. The Man Mo Temple is located around here making it a great place to stop by when in this neighborhood. Also, if you plan to head to Macau from Hong Kong, Sheung Wang is where the Macau Ferry Terminal is located.

Where Did We Stay In Hong Kong?

Aiden and I stayed at Urban Pack Hostel and Innsight which are both just 2 minutes away from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station. It was such a great place, with lots of restaurants close by, shops, street food and so much more. In my opinion, choosing to stay around Tsim Sha Tsui was the best place to stay in Hong Kong for us based on the activities we wanted to do.

As you can see, finding the best place to stay in Hong Kong won’t be an issue. Regardless of which area you pick, there’s also a bus stop or MTR station close by so you can easily get around. It is almost impossible to get lost in Hong Kong! Enjoy your trip!
