When I was looking for ski resorts in Colorado, I spent a lot of time researching and reading to see what each resort had to offer and then I checked to see if it was within my budget.

These resorts below are the ones I found to be the best Colorado Ski Resorts for families.

Beaver Creek Resort, Colorado

Beaver Creek is a friendly family resort mostly known for its welcoming atmosphere and stunning beauty. It is one of the best and affordable ski resorts for families that provides access to every skier’s level.

Beaver Creek resort is the most preferred because of the fun family activities it offers. These include hiking, dinner at Beano’s Cabin, Snowshoeing, skiing, riding gondolas, taking jeep tours, tubing, eating cookies, ice skating, and fishing.

Getting to Beaver Creek Resort is not a challenge. The two closest airports are Eagle County Regional Airport and Denver International Airport. Eagle County Regional Airport is located 30 minutes from this resort while Denver International Airport is located 120 minutes from the resort.

Another affordable ski resort for families is Crested Butte Mountain. It is one of the best birthplaces of freeskiing that offers diverse and extreme terrain.

At the peaks of this mountain resort, there is steeps, expert bowls, and long cruisers, primarily for the advanced skiers. Also, the intermediate and beginner skiers can enjoy the extensive open green and blue runs.

Children activities in this resort include visiting the playgrounds, letterboxing hunt, fishing at the Roaring Judy Fish Hatchery, visiting the Judd Falls, visiting Lake Irwin, visiting Trailhead children’s museum, enjoying at the Adventure Park, and Go Jump in a river.

The closest airport is Gunnison-Crested Butte Regional Airport, located at a 40 minutes’ drive to the resort. If you don’t mind the drive, then you can fly into Montrose Regional Airport which is a 2 hour drive away or Denver International Airport, which is a 4.5 hour drive away.

Telluride Ski Resort, Colorado

Telluride is a beautiful and affordable ski resort for families. Families will have a great time on its friendly intermediate slopes. It is also one of the best places to enjoy a European style ambiance and lodging.

Children activities at this resort include taking a visit to the Ah Haa School of the Arts, Telluride Historical Museum, Mountain Village and the Pinhead Punk Science. Other activities include hiking, skating, mountain biking, flower fairies, and mud monsters.

The nearest airport to this resort is Telluride Regional Airport, located 6 miles from the resort. Other airports include Denver, (7 hours to the resort), Phoenix (9 hours to the resort), and Albuquerque (5 hours to the resort).

These include: Playing big scrabble, hiking the Fraser River Trail, eating breakfast at Carvers, riding the Alpine slide, riding the chairlift to the mountain’s top. Taking a tour of the sled dog kennel, exploring the human maze, visiting the Devil’s Thumb Ranch, eating pizza at Hernando’s, and going bowling and watching a movie.

The nearest airport to this resort is Denver International Airport, located 90-miles from the resort. From here, you can use a rental car or shuttle to get to the resort.

Two major airports mainly service Vail ski resort. These are Denver International Airport (100 miles from the resort) and Vail Airport (30 miles from the resort).

With these 6 options to choose from, your family is guarantee to have an amazing ski trip! You won't go wrong by choosing one over the other especially as they are all just as good for families.
