Disney recently updated their guideline policies of items that are not allowed in the parks. When you’re planning a big vacation to Disney World, you want to be as prepared as you can be. This list of items will make sure that you don’t pack anything that you don’t need or that won’t be allowed in the park.

What Disney Parks Have We Visited?

Our family loves visiting Disney, and we have been to all the Disney Parks in the world so far except Shanghai. You can read more on our Disney trips below:

I have a done a lot of research and come up with a list of prohibited items and activities that Disney has in place for the safety and enjoyment of park guests. Check out our list and save yourself from having to go back to your resort or car to drop off unapproved items or worse, having to throw them away!

Items Not Allowed At Disney

  • Alcohol and illegal drugs. Yes, this seems like a given but I’ve seen wine coolers removed from coolers before!
  • Weapons of all kinds, including fake weapons.
  • Recreational scooters, drones, bicycles, skateboards and skates. This includes shoes with wheels attached like Heelys.
  • Selfie Sticks are no longer approved, which is kind of sad but once guests start using them on rides, they become a safety hazard.
  • Camera tripods that are too large to collapse to fit in a standard backpack or those that extend more than 6’
  • Wagons and coolers that have to be pulled
  • Folding chairs and chairs that fit in carrying bag, it would be nice to have a saved seat to watch the shows and parades, but you can’t do it with chairs.
  • Glass containers are not allowed, with the exception of baby food jars and perfume bottles.
  • Self defense devices such as mace and pepper spray
  • Fireworks and explosive flammable objects. Disney puts on amazing fireworks shows, you won’t need your own.
  • Artificial noise makers. Please for the sanity of us all, leave the whistles, horns and megaphones at home!
  • Flags and banners
  • Suitcases, coolers, backpacks and bags that are larger than 24” long x 15” wide x 18” high.
  • Balloons and straw are not allowed in any of the water parks or at Animal Kingdom Lodge or theme park.
  • Mobility devices and segways that don’t have at least three wheels or cannot stand upright alone.
  • Non-service animals are prohibited.

Activities Not Allowed At Disney

  • You cannot distribute printed or recorded materials without written consent from Disney.
  • Adults ages 14 and older may not wear costumes, including maks. During Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, this rule is lifted, but you may not portray yourself as that character to other guests. *medically required masks are ok
  • You cannot enter restricted areas for Cast Members.
  • You cannot sell goods or services without written consent from Disney. You won’t find MLM pitches or products here!
  • Don’t impede any shows, attractions or parades ie, keep kids behind marked lines and don’t attempt to walk across the street during a parade or try to jump on stage during a performance.
  • Don’t engage in unsafe behavior like attempting to get off a ride that’s in operation or climbing structures.
  • Don’t take pictures or videos for unapproved commercial use.
  • You can’t obstruct entrances, driveways, sidewalks, patios, stairways or halls. This includes parking wheelchairs and strollers in these areas.
  • No soliciting, not for charity donations or religious invitations. Just don’t.
  • You may not deliver an unauthorized speech or demonstration. We’ll look out for you on YouTube for that!
  • No hanging clothing items on fire suppression systems.
  • You must wear proper attire, shoes and shirts too. No clothing items that drag on the floor are permitted.
  • Visible tattoos with inappropriate language or designs are not allowed and you may be asked to cover them up.
  • Running is frowned upon.
  • Profanity and offensive behavior can be grounds for park removal.
  • Refrain from feeding, petting and otherwise harassing wildlife within the parks.
  • Service animals must remain on a leash or harness at all times and they are not allowed on some attractions or in any water features.

Updated Disney Policy Starting 28 March 2019 & 01 May 2019

Beginning 28 March 2019, Disney’s updated policies will go into effect. The updated policies are as follows:

  • Loose ice inside of coolers, including dry ice. You will need to bag it in resealable bags to use inside the cooler (March 2019).

Beginning May 1, 2019, Disney’s updated policies will go into effect. The updated policies are as follows:

  • Smoking will be prohibited in all parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports and Disney Springs. There are going to be designated smoking areas somewhere outside the park entrances but the locations haven’t been revealed as of yet.
  • Stroller wagons
  • Strollers larger that 31” wide and 52” long.
  • These cute Cinderella carriages below that have been so popular are now prohibited.

We know this list can seem a little daunting but don’t worry, there is so much fun to be had at Disney and that’s in part to the rules in place.  We hope you have a magical time on your next visit!
